New Rounds of Bikeculture

Do you like sports and a bicycle is your favorite means of transport? Are you interested in the history of New Belgrade, the architecture and the peculiarities of the modern core of our capital city? Then Bikeculture is the best tour for you!

During the easy ride from Ušće to the Student City, you will have the opportunity to hear fascinating stories about how the new city was designed on the left bank of the Sava River and who built it. Why was New Belgrade such an important symbolic center of the new state? How the character and consciousness of the builders changed along with the transformation of the wetland into an urban settlement? How were the construction challenges and problems resolved on site? What links the communities of former participants in work actions, who organize and gather even today?

The ride begins under the Branko’s Bridge and it includes a tour of the facilities that were planned for the first phase of the construction of New Belgrade (Central Comitee, SIV, Hotel Jugoslavija, Pavilions, Student City), as well as features that bear remembrance of the Youth Work Actions in New Belgrade.

The tours will be organized from October 11, 2017 every Wednesday and Saturday from 2 pm, depending on the weather conditions.
