Moussaka and Ljuban at the Fountain Plateau in front of the Museum of Yusoslavia

SUMMER IN THE MUSEUM CONTINUES, this time a complete spectacle in the FOUNTAIN, at the plateau, in front of the Museum of Yugoslavia, with a performance of the band Moussaka, Scratch Master Ljuban, and the scenery of Incredible Bob.

We wish to recall the cult Yugoslav pop and folk hits that marked the second half of the 20th century, but in an unusual way. We invited artists from the contemporary scene to present you the old hits of Lepa Brena, Halid Bešlić, Bijelo dugme, Zana… in an alternative manner.

Moussaka is one of the rare Serbian bands whose music can be classified as instrumental surf-term. Energetic four-piece band performs known and less known local pop-folk tunes from the second half of the 20th century, in its own arrangement, with a lot of artistic interference. This unusual band represents a savory blend of original guitar school from the 1950s and Yugoslav pop culture aesthetics. An incredible closeness of the California surf-rock and Balkan musical narratives is reflected in broken but powerful rhythms and melodies, full of the heaviest emotions and nostalgia.

Ljuban, a scratch master of the ex-yu vinyl and one of the most skilled trash-hop selectors in the last decade, comes from Sevojno, a small industrial town in western Serbia. Ljuban has been scratching vinyl since 2006, using samples from blues, to rock, to children’s tunes, to folk music combining them with hip-hop, big-beat rhythms. Especially for this occasion he will focus on Yugoslav vinyl, and what will happen to them when Ljuban scratch them – remains to be seen.

Incredible Bob, an award-winning media artist who combines a generic video, electronic music, lighting effects and interactive technology in his performances, will turn the event in the complete spectacle. His light choreography and visual shows do not leave anyone indifferent.

The Museum of Yugoslavia, in partnership with the municipality of Savski Venac, has launched the project Summer in the Museum with the idea to promote the Museum as a place for socializing and entertainment.
