This shield was given to J. B. Tito on February 3, 1968 by the Embassy of SFRY in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian shields are made from the rhinoceros, antelope or elephant skin. They are of Asian origin and are characterized by a specific, covert shape that is obtained by bending the skin over stone, giving the shield additional strength.
